The Museum of National Resistance is housed in a two-floor building in the centre of Nea Ionia (33A, Louli and Kritis Streets), near the Holy Church of Evangelistria. The ground floor houses the Centre for Research and Study of National Resistance and the permanent display of photographs of the period 1940–1944 by three important photographers: the iconic Spyros Meletzis, who kindly permitted the Municipality of Volos to place on display his photos donated by the Alexandrou family, as well as the leading Magnesia photographers, Nikos Stournaras and Kostas Zimeris. The display is documented by archival material dating from the 1940–1944 period from the Zioutos and Koliou Archives.
A library of important books and rare editions on the 1940s, newspapers, and other documents acquired by the Museum through donations is also housed in this area of the building.
The first floor houses the depository of the Directorate of Archives, Museums & Libraries, which includes the Municipal Centre for Historical Research and Documentation of Volos archival collections.
